Shanti Shea An lives in Sydney, Australia. She currently works between Sydney and Canberra. She studied in the Painting Workshop at the ANU School of Art & Design, graduating with First Class Honours and the University Medal in 2016. She then completed a Master of Art History & Curatorial Studies at the ANU Centre for Art History and Art Theory in 2019, writing her thesis on the subject of thresholds in seventeenth-century Dutch painting.

        She is a current PhD candidate at the ANU, where she is undertaking practice-led research into the relationship between painting and textuality.
